Description : Iron oxide and alkali-calcic alteration systems lead to a great variety of alteration facies and deposit types including iron oxide-apatite (IOA), iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG), albitite-hosted U, albitite-hosted orogenic Au and iron skarns deposits as well as their REE, Co, Bi, Mo, Re and U variants.

This symposium will examine the global advances in field mapping and geochemical, mineralogical, structural and fluid chemistry characterisation of these regional-scale metasomatic systems within mining districts and prospective geological settings worldwide. Additional contributions will explore the relationships between geological footprints, rock physical properties and geophysical expressions of hydrothermal systems at deposit to lithosphere scale, and the magmatic, tectonic and metamorphic history of host provinces and their geodynamic settings. Research results pertaining to geo-metallurgy, geo-environmental models, baseline environmental studies, and the potential role of atypical mineral systems on the development of stunning and contrasting physiography, chemically diverse soils and biodiversity are also welcome. A broad approach to the study of these ore systems is favoured to achieve successful ore system and geo-environmental models and a balance between environment and economy through sustainable exploration and exploitation of the mineral wealth of a society.
