Description : This symposium will showcase advances recently, or currently being made, to the understanding of gold deposits ore-forming processes and to the development of geological and exploration models. This includes, but is not restricted to, contributions made through, or with support from the Geological Survey of Canada’s Targeted Geoscience Initiative Program under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Benoît Dubé. Dr. Dubé, as senior GSC gold metallogenist, science leader and mentor to many students and professionals, was instrumental in the development and steering of gold deposit-related research under the Targeted Geoscience Initiative program since 2000 in Canada and abroad. The symposium will therefore consist of presentations highlighting scientific contributions to the understanding of gold deposits by past and current colleagues, collaborators and students of Dr. Dubé. Contribution by fellow scientists and students that are not necessarily associated with the GSC, but which have the same objective of improving our understanding of gold deposits, are welcome as well.
